Technical Writing & Documentation Management for Craft Breweries
Description

This class aims for writers to compose technical documents that the reader can easily read and understand, so the writer must know their audience. Participants will work through 4 modules (2 hours each) to introduce practical techniques to sharpen their technical writing. Exercises will focus on three key concepts; brevity, clarity, and active language to enhance understanding.

Group exercises include:

  • Identify the topic in the paragraphs
  • Who is the audience in the following examples?
  • Take the BioNetwork quick reference card and organize the information in a clear and useful manner. Improve upon the current design
  • Take the paragraph on the following slide and organize it  into a table or graphic
  • Rewrite the paragraph as a list
  • Identify active and passive voice. Rewrite passive sentences.
  • Create a root cause analysis report. Or Make an SOP style document for a simple common process (make coffee, popcorn, pb&j)
