This class aims for writers to compose technical documents that the reader can easily read and understand, so the writer must know their audience. Participants will work through 4 modules (2 hours each) to introduce practical techniques to sharpen their technical writing. Exercises will focus on three key concepts; brevity, clarity, and active language to enhance understanding.

- Identify the topic in the paragraphs
- Who is the audience in the following examples?
- Take the BioNetwork quick reference card and organize the information in a clear and useful manner. Improve upon the current design
- Take the paragraph on the following slide and organize it into a table or graphic
- Rewrite the paragraph as a list
- Identify active and passive voice. Rewrite passive sentences.
- Create a root cause analysis report. Or Make an SOP style document for a simple common process (make coffee, popcorn, pb&j)
